Description
At Vodafone Greece we have implemented all the necessary actions, in order to save heating and cooling energy at MTXs (Mobile Telephone Exchanges) and Data Centers which accounts for around 50% of total energy consumption at a MTX and Data Center. Specifically:
- Free cooling installation at MTX. Free cooling take into account the external temperature, maintaining IT equipment adequately cool preventing the operation of energy-intensive air conditioners. The result was to save 35.8 MWh and prevent the emission of 25.7 tonnes of CO2e into the atmosphere.
- Re-adjustment of temperature set points at all MTXs, from 21oC to 23oC and 25oC, depending on the needs of each area.
- Dynamic Thermal Management at all MTXs & all DCs by installation of temperature sensors within the racks. The system automatically adjusts the operation of the air conditioning to the needs of the IT equipment, improving the cooling of IT equipment and making air conditioning more efficient. The result of these actions was to save 45.7 MWh and prevent the emission of 32.8 tonnes of CO2e into the atmosphere.
- UPS & Cooling Units upgrade at MTXs with high efficiency ones & saving 87,8 MWh and preventing the emission of 63,09 tonnes of CO2e into the atmosphere.
- Adiabatic Cooling at MTX
