Description
The Northern Lights project, developed by total, Shell and Equinor, consists of a CO2 receiving terminal, an offshore pipeline, injection and CO2 storage. The captured CO2 liquid goes by ship from the capture sites to a new CO2 receiving terminal outside Bergen, and into a suitable offshore geological storage complex via subsea injection wells and an offshore pipeline from the CO2 receiving terminal.
The Norwegian carbon capture and storage demonstration project will be based on capture of CO2 from two capture sites; Fortum‘s waste-to-energy facility in Oslo and Norcem’s cement factory in Brevik.
