Description
IKEA has been committed to tackling climate change for many years, and announced new commitments as part of its Sustainability Strategy – People and Planet Positive, in June 2018.
One of the ambitions for 2030 is for IKEA to become climate positive, which means reducing more greenhouse gas emissions than the value chain emits, while growing the IKEA business.
Since 2016 IKEA Retail Poland (part of Ingka Group, the largest IKEA franchisee) has produced more renewable energy than it consumes in its operations. Ingka Group in Poland currently has 80 wind turbines that enable us to reduce CO2 emissions by around 450,000 tonnes. IKEA Distribution Center in Jarosty and some of IKEA stores use ground source heat pumps for renewable heating and cooling and three of stores have solar collectors on their roofs to produce hot water.
